The city of Hemet was founded in 1887 and was incorporate in 1910. The city boasts beautiful parks that are friendly for all ages.

Hemet has become well known as a retirement community and contains quite a few retirement home tracts and parks.

Hemet has also become home to many younger families looking to escape Southern California’s crowded urban areas and purchase a new home. The average age of homeowner’s has dropped since 1980, when it was originally 64 years of age. Now it is 41 and dropping due to entry-level home sales to the younger population.

With the 2005 population reaching over 66,000, growth continues steadily in Hemet and more businesses are popping up in the area.

When you visit, be sure to check out the Hemet Museum which shows off the city’s colorful history, including agricultural displays, rare historical photographs, railroad relics and Native American artifacts. And don’t forget to visit the KidsZone Museum which is an interactive children’s museum for both fun and learning.
